We meet at Wythenshawe Park Athletics Track from 8.30am for a prompt 9am start.
We welcome all ages and abilities and you can Run, Jog or Walk!
We have a large on-site Car park, Toilets, Changing Rooms, an electronic timing system and free refreshments.

About us
We offer a free 2k or 5k run every Sunday with both runs starting and finishing at Wythenshawe Park Athletics Track at 9am prompt. The course is all on paths (so no mud) and is completely flat so it's perfect for both seasoned runners looking to improve times and for complete newcomers to running and you can Walk, Jog or Run our courses at a pace that suits you.
All our runs are fully marshaled we have qualified first aiders with fully stocked first aid kits at the start/finish and on the course at 2k, we also have an onsite defibrillator.
Both our runs are free to take part in however we do ask runners to register for health and safety reasons and to access our electronic timing system for post run results. You can register by clicking on this Register to run button or in person on the day by heading for the registration point at the track.
Wythenshawe Community Run is a run, not a race and we welcome all ages and all abilities, we actively encourage families to take part together at their own pace. We also encourage responsible runners with dogs and runners with single buggies because ultimately our run is about getting people running together in the fresh air and achieving their own personal goals.
We are a very friendly run so if you are worried about coming down and taking part please don't be as a warm welcome is always guaranteed not only for the organizers but from all of our incredible regular runners!

Is the run free?
Do I need to Register?

Registration is free and takes 2 minute's via the Google form here Wythenshawe Community Run Registration Form
You only have to register once and will be issued with a unique run number the first time you attend the run.
What time do i need to be there?
Can anyone take part? Do i need to be a quick runner?
If you are unsure or haven't exercised for a long time please seek medical advice before taking part.
Is there an age limit for children taking part?
As a guide children over 4 years of age are usually fine but we ask parents to run along side any children under the age of 11 or that they feel may become distressed by running alone.
Can my children run on there own?
*Please do not ask to leave anyone under the age of 16 with a course marshal or race organizer whilst you run as we cannot legally accept responsibility for any child.

Directions
By road: Leave M60 at Junction 5, or M56 at Junction 3, onto Princess Parkway; turn off onto B5166 west towards Sale Moor, then at the first traffic lights turn left towards Brooklands on the B5167, Wythenshawe Road. Drive half a mile and turn into the Park main entrance on your left. Use Postcode M23 0AB for Satnav directions. 100 metres beyond this is the entrance to the Athletics Track.
By bus: Bus 101 from Princess Parkway (heading from City Centre). Bus 179 along Altrincham Road (from Stockport direction). Bus 370 from Didsbury along Wythenshawe Road, or from Altrincham Interchange along Wythenshawe Road. Bus stops are located nearby on Princess Parkway, Wythenshawe Road and Altrincham Road
By tram: The nearest Metrolink stop is Wythenshawe Park, on the Manchester Victoria to Manchester Airport line. To get to the Park and Hall, walk east along Wythenshawe Road (B5167) for about 3/4 mile. You will pass three entrances. Use the second entrance to access the Athletics Track and Cycle Hub facilities (20 minutes), and the third entrance is the main access to Wythenshawe Park and Hall (25 minutes). The park is on your right

If you’re driving to the run, please drive carefully even if you’re late and please park considerately.
Is there a map of the course?
The 2K starts at the athletics track and the start and finish are in the same place, you complete a clockwise circuit of the track then head out through the gates and across the car park.Go right down the side of the bike area then turn left into the woods and follow this path all the way to the end of the tennis courts,
Turn right then run passed the tennis courts on your right to the the 2K turn around point.
Turn around and reverse the run back to the track then complete a anti-clockwise circuit of the track and finish where you started.
All major turns are fully marshaled, both courses are on mixed terrain around the grounds of Wythenshawe park, it is very flat and apart from a small section through a wooded area, its all on paths and tracks – Please take care on grass or on tarmac and especially in wet/freezing conditions, Watch out for cyclists, other participants, pedestrians, children, dogs, vehicles, fallen branches, mud, bollards, posts and other obstacles around the course.
The 5K starts at the athletics track and the start and finish are in the same place, you complete an clockwise circuit of the track then head out through the gates and across the car park and turn right down the side of the bike area.Turn left into the woods and follow this path all the way to the end of the tennis courts, turn right then run passed the tennis courts on your right and passed the 2K turn around point!
Follow this road all the way up to Altrincham Road and turn left run down the cycle path and turn left back into the park.
Follow 100 meters to the bridge and turn left follow this path towards the statue then turn left down the side of Wythenshawe Hall,
Follow this path passed the cafe on your right to the main road and turn left, complete a second circuit of this loop and when you go passed the cafe for a second time turn right at the junction and cross the road (carefully) turn left down the side of the tennis courts back towards the track.
Follow this path all the way back to the bike area, turn right then left at the gate and follow it back to the track and complete a anti-clockwise circuit to the finish line where you started.

Is there a cut off time?
We allow all our participants to Walk, Run or Jog at there own pace and for a 5k this can usually be achieved in an hour or less but we will always wait for the tail runner and the last runner to return to the track.
What happens if i get injured during the run?
We are a community run so If you see someone in distress or with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible - Race HQ number is 07518792719

This weeks run in cancelled as it clashes with the Manchester Marathon. Lots of our regular runners are taking part and we always encourage our runners to go and support this amazing event. Local road closures also make it more difficult for our runners and team to get the the Park.

Due to High Flying Birds concert in the park on Saturday night we have decided to cancel the run on Sunday 26th August as we think access to the park and parts of our course will be blocked.
Sunday the 20th August is the Wythenshawe Games 10k run in Wythenshaw Park at 10am so we are cancelling our run partly because the 10k uses some of our course and also because we want to encourage as many of our runners as possible to support this local run by signing up on the link below.

On Saturday the 14th May we received the very sad news that Mike Dunne has passed away after a short battle with Cancer. Mike has been a integral part of the Wythenshawe community Run team from the very start and a huge part of why we were able to continue after Great Run Local folded. Mike got us access to the park, the track, Porta-cabins, Toilets and Changing room, he set the course up every week and he was always the first person at the track on a Sunday morning and the last person to leave. He himself was a very accomplished runner and he loved watching people find a love for running that he had for his whole life. Mike was a good friend to all of the Community run team and a genuinely lovely person who was so full of joy that will be very sadly missed. In association with Sale Harriers we will be hosting a remembrance run for Mike on 4th June with a book of condolences for regular runners to write comments for the family. This weeks run is cancelled due to the iconic Manchester 10k and Half marathon taking place, and many of our runners with be taking part, volunteering or just cheering the runners on! Just one week off though we'll be back next week!!

As a Manchester running community we want to support our iconic city marathon and we will cancel our run for one week whilst encourage our runners to watch, run and volunteer at Manchester Marathon 2023

But we cannot put the run on without you're help and every week we need 11 volunteer marshals in order to make sure the run goes ahead safely.
We need Marshals from 8.45 am until around 10.00 am. Roles include...............
Start and Finish marshals to help the Race Director brief runners on the course and record finish times and names.
Course marshals who help set the course up pre - run and direct runners safely around the course.
Car park marshals to help runners arrive and park safely.
Tail runner to safely follow the back of the run and advise marshals to stand down.
Refreshments volunteer to greet the runners with a free refreshing drink at the end of the run.
If you want to volunteer for any marshal position please click on the Google volunteer form at the top of this site and complete your details or contact one of us at the run and we will give you further direction.
You don't need any specific skills as we will provide full training and individual mentoring and we will always try and match volunteers to a suitable position and we we always guarantee good fun!
We can also help our younger volunteers to complete the volunteer section of their Duke of Edinburgh awards in a fun, relaxed and rewarding environment.

Wythenshawe Community Run used to be part of the "Great Run Local" family which was disbanded in 2021 during covid so we now partner with our other former Great Run Local runs across the country! If you live or are ever visiting these parts of the country please visit and support these runs as like us they are not for profit runs organised by volunteers for the benefit of the local community.
