On Saturday the 14th May we received the very sad news that Mike Dunne has passed away after a short battle with Cancer. Mike has been a integral part of the Wythenshawe community Run team from the very start and a huge part of why we were able to continue after Great Run Local folded. Mike got us access to the park, the track, Porta-cabins, Toilets and Changing room, he set the course up every week and he was always the first person at the track on a Sunday morning and the last person to leave. He himself was a very accomplished runner and he loved watching people find a love for running that he had for his whole life. Mike was a good friend to all of the Community run team and a genuinely lovely person who was so full of joy that will be very sadly missed. In association with Sale Harriers we will be hosting a remembrance run for Mike on 4th June with a book of condolences for regular runners to write comments for the family. A free 2K or 5k Run, Jog or Walk with a running track start and finish, Both distances are on a flat, Multi terrain course suitable for all ages and abilities, We are on every Sunday at 9am.
